Arianna Catania

Arianna Catania is an independent curator, photo editor, and journalist.

After earning a degree in Political Science and a diploma from the Istituto Superiore di Fotografia e Comunicazione Integrata in Rome, she began her career as a photographer.

Since 2007 she has worked in publishing as a photo editor for various newspapers and magazines, and has contributed to several publications, including Huffington Post, writing about art and photography.

She is the founder and co-director of Images Gibellina/ Open Air & Site-specific Photo Festival, where photography and the visual arts engage in dialogue with architecture through innovative installations conceived for urban spaces.

She has served as artistic director of Emerging Talents at the Mattatoio in Rome, a festival dedicated to the most compelling emerging artists on the contemporary scene.

She has curated works and installations by both established and emerging artists, including Joan Fontcuberta, Olivo Barbieri, Tobias Zielony, Valérie Jouve, Anouk Kruithof, Mario Cresci, Monica Alcazar-Duarte, Moira Ricci, Peter Puklus, Massimo Siragusa, Manon Wertenbroek, Sarker Protick, Stefano De Luigi, and others.

She is Director/Curator of the "Collezione Permanente Fotografia" at the Fondazione Orestiadi and president of the cultural association On Image.

She has served on the jury of the Premio Graziadei per la Fotografia 2022 and as a portfolio reviewer at various events, including the French festival Circulation(s), dedicated to young European photography.
