Filippo Venturi

Filippo Venturi is a documentary photographer and visual artist. A graduate in Computer Science, he has documented dictatorships, democracies in crisis, and rights movements, with a research practice centered on identity and the human condition.

In recent years he has been working on the relationship between photography, information, power, and artificial intelligence. In 2023 he presented the talk Broken Mirror at PhotoVogue Festival in Milan. Between October 2024 and January 2025 he exhibited in Pixel Perceptions: Into the Eye of AI at Noorderlicht, Groningen.

His images have appeared, among others, in National Geographic, The Washington Post, and The Guardian. With Made in Korea he took second place in the People category at the Sony World Photography Awards 2016. He was shortlisted for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award in 2022 and 2026, and in 2025 FIAF named him Author of the Year.

He teaches photojournalism, documentary photography, and artificial intelligence, including in the Master's in Journalism at the Università di Bologna.
