Guia Besana

A member of Agence VU (Paris/France) since 2020, Guia Besana is a photographer known for her stylized, cinematic scenarios.

Her work, represented by VisionQuesT4rosso contemporary gallery (Italy), has appeared in galleries and museums in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Venice, Turin… with viewers drawn to her often dark, mysterious, and provocative images.

A self-taught photographer, Guia Besana focuses with particular attention on psychology and women's issues. Her photographs weave together social themes and personal experiences, playing on the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction photography and creating "mise en scène" that carries through into both her Fine-Art work and her portrait and corporate commissions.

With her reportage, Inside Teheran, she received her first recognition in 2004 as a finalist for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award (Arles/France).

In 2012 she won the Premio Grin with Baby Blues (Milan/Italy).

In 2018 Guia Besana was selected as one of LensCulture's 35 Photographers to Watch, and in 2019 she won the Julia Margaret Cameron Award and was selected for the AI-AP35 Book.

Through her storytelling, Guia Besana regularly contributes to publications and takes part in fairs including:

The New York Times, TIME, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, The Guardian, Le Monde, D di Repubblica, Marie Claire.

Charlotte/The Light Factory (USA) – Buenos Aires/Festival De La Luz (Argentina) - Turin/The Phair, Cortona/Cortona On The Move (ITALY) - Barcelona/Biennale (Spain).

Canon Ambassador since 2016.
