Laura Pannack
Laura Pannack is a London-based photographer and artist. (born 1985)
Renowned for her portrait and social documentary work, she seeks to explore the complex relationship between subject and photographer.
Many of her projects focus on youth and time. She combines her passion for psychology and creativity and often collaborates with a variety of professionals.
She believes in a process built on shared experience. Using the camera as a bridge, Laura ventures curiously into the process with limitless expectations alongside those she photographs, seeking engagement, connection and a unique experience.
Her work has been widely exhibited and published around the world, including at the National Portrait Gallery, the Houses of Parliament, Somerset House and the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Over the past 15 years, her work has received considerable acclaim and won numerous awards, including the John Kobal Award, the Vic Odden Prize, the World Photo Press Awards, the Juliet Margaret Cameron Award, the Sony World Photo Awards, the HSBC Prix de la Photographie Prize and the Camera Clara Prize.
Laura aims to dig beneath the surface and go beyond what we think we see. She is driven by self-initiated, research-based projects that push her to grow both as an artist and as an individual.
Many of her projects unfold over several years, allowing the narrative to emerge as it develops. Shooting primarily on analogue film allows her to have an organic process rather than one predefined by fixed ideas, thereby introducing chance and fate.
"The work aims to tell and inspire stories. My goal is to connect and emotionally engage the viewer. I want you to look at my images and see your own story too."
