Chiara Capodici
Chiara Capodici has been working in photography since 2005, moving between curating, editorial design, and teaching, with a specific focus on the photobook as a language and cultural device. After an early experience in cultural production and communication, she served as assistant to the artistic director of Fotografia – Festival Internazionale di Roma (2006–2008).
From 2009 to 2016 she was part of the duo 3/3 – studio di progettazione fotografica, with whom she developed editorial projects, exhibitions, and workshops in Italy and abroad, paying particular attention to photobook publishing and book-making processes. Among the most significant projects is Little Big Press, a library dedicated to independent photobook publishing, along with a series of workshops held with international authors including Rinko Kawauchi, Anouk Kruithof, Rob Hornstra, and Joachim Schmid.
In 2017 she founded Leporello, a bookshop and design space dedicated to photobook publishing, a meeting point between photography, graphic design, architecture, illustration, and essay writing. Leporello is also an exhibition and research space, active in promoting a multidisciplinary approach to visual culture through book presentations, exhibitions, collective workshops, and special editorial projects. Since 2023 she has also been the founder of Leporello Books, an independent publishing house.
Since 2020 she has collaborated with LaBabuch, an artist residency in France founded by Israel Ariño and Clara Gassull, dedicated to photography and the photobook. She has taken part in numerous international juries, including the Kassel Photobook Award, the Prix Pictet, and the FE+SK Award di Fotografia Europea.
She is also intensely active as an educator: she teaches Editorial Design and Book Making in the Corso Triennale di Fotografia at Spazio Labò (Bologna), oversees the Laboratorio Tesi at NABA Roma, and has taught in various courses and master's programs at Officine Fotografiche, NABA, IED, and Istituto Quasar. She regularly leads workshops and courses in Italy and abroad.
